The Cost of Patient No-Shows
Sep 1, 2026 · 5 min read
Direct cost is easy: no-shows × revenue per visit. Indirect cost is idle provider time, staff chasing the patient, and a slot you cannot sell because it opened too late.
Example: 30 scheduled visits a day, 15% no-show, $175 average — that is about 4–5 empty visits daily. Over 250 clinic days the revenue line is large enough that a reminder product paying for itself in a few recovered visits per month is the conservative case.
Use the no-show calculator with your numbers, then read no-show prevention software for the workflow that converts “forgot” into CONFIRM or a visible cancel.
